Al Hrabosky and Brett Hull to serve as honorary team captains

ST. LOUIS (September 16, 2014): Tickets are on sale for the 28th annual Budweiser Guns ‘N Hoses boxing event benefiting The BackStoppers, a non-profit organization that assists families of first responders who have died in the line of duty. This year’s event will take place at 7 p.m. Thanksgiving Eve on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at Scottrade Center.

Guns ’N Hoses will feature 15 three-round bouts of boxing and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) matches between police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel from Missouri and Illinois. Both male and female fighters are scheduled. Prior to the opening bell, Guns ’N Hoses will honor those first responders who lost their lives during the past year.

“Budweiser Guns ‘N Hoses is a great holiday event and a real tradition in St. Louis,” said David Stokes, president of the St. Louis Guns ‘N Hoses Boxing Association. “The BackStoppers would not be able to provide the care and necessary assistance to our fallen heroes without the generous support of the St. Louis community who support our first responders through fundraising events such as Guns ‘N Hoses.

Former MLB player and current St. Louis Cardinals color commentator Al Hrabosky, and NHL all-star and current Executive Vice President of the St. Louis Blues Brett Hull are serving as this year’s honorary team captains. Hrabosky will captain the red team and Hull will serve as captain of the blue team.

Both Hull and Hrabosky are excited and honored to be a part of the annual event. “Guns ‘N Hoses is a tremendous way to honor the first responders who put their lives on the line every minute of every day,” said Hrabosky. “I’ve supported Guns ‘N Hoses since it began, and I’m so proud to serve as an honorary team captain.”

“I attended Guns ‘N Hoses for the first time last year and was moved by the overwhelming show of support for our first responders and The Backstoppers organization,” said Hull. “I’m honored to be a part of this year’s event and to serve as a team captain.”

Guns ‘N Hoses is presented by the non-profit St. Louis Guns ‘N Hoses Boxing Association and sponsored by Budweiser and Grey Eagle Distributors, the Anheuser-Busch wholesaler in St. Louis County. Since its inception in 1987, Budweiser Guns ‘N Hoses has raised more than $4.5 million to benefit The BackStoppers.
